Purpose
The purpose of Museum Odense’s privacy policy is to provide an overview of which information we collect, how we use it, and how it is stored.
Pursuant to data protection legislation (the EU General Data Protection Regulation and the Danish supplementary act), you have the right to be informed about Museum Odense’s processing of your personal data. As the data controller responsible for the receipt and processing of personal data, Museum Odense collects information for a number of different purposes and ensures that personal data is processed in accordance with applicable legislation.
What information is collected
Museum Odense does not process sensitive personal data when purchasing tickets, annual passes, or gift cards. Ordinary personal data such as name, address, telephone number, and email address is collected primarily to fulfil the agreement entered into between Museum Odense and its guests. This applies, for example, when purchasing annual passes, online tickets, and products via the webshop.
When you visit the museum’s websites, purchase access to events, buy online tickets, or participate in our activities – including competitions – we collect the information you provide to us yourself.
If you use social media such as Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, etc., and actively interact through Like, Share, Tag, Hashtag, or by writing a comment on one of our museums’ social media profiles, information about your electronic activity is collected.
Museum Odense collects, processes, and stores, for example, the following information about you:
- name
- address
- telephone number
- email address
- payment information
- passwords
- customer number
- and IP address.
Some of this information is collected using cookies; see the section on cookies.
Your personal data is stored for as long as it is necessary in relation to the purpose for which it was collected and until the agreement entered into has ended. However, this does not apply to annual passes, where information is stored for an additional three months after the expiry date in order to more quickly restore a previous membership. Documentation and retention requirements under the Danish Financial Statements Act mean that we store information about financial transactions for five years pursuant to the Danish Bookkeeping Act.
If you make a charitable donation to Museum Odense, sensitive personal data is collected, namely your Danish CPR number. The CPR number is collected so that Museum Odense can report the amount to the tax authorities and ensure that you receive your tax deduction. Your CPR number is treated confidentially in a secure data system and is used solely for reporting to the Danish Tax Agency (SKAT).
Data protection
When you shop in our webshop, you provide the following information:
Name, address, telephone number, and email address.
We register personal data in order to deliver the ordered goods to you. Personal data registered by Museum Odense is stored for a maximum of five years, after which it is deleted.
We also use the information to send you reminders about your visit and other relevant information.
Partners, including the use of data processors
Your information is not shared with third parties; however, in certain cases your personal data may be transferred to external partners. This only occurs when we ask partners to process the data on our behalf. This is done solely in accordance with our instructions, and data processors may not use the information for other purposes. We enter into written agreements with data processors, who are subject to confidentiality obligations and required to comply with data protection legislation.
